Schema checker
Structured data is the part of your page written for machines. This checker fetches any URL, extracts every JSON-LD block, and lists the schema types it declares, such as Organization, Article, FAQPage and Product. Pages carrying none get flagged, and the report suggests the types worth adding so answer engines can quote your facts accurately instead of guessing at them from prose.
What schema actually does for AI visibility
The evidence deserves an honest read. SE Ranking analyzed pages cited by AI engines and found 71 percent carry structured data, and about 65 percent of pages cited by Google AI Mode do. Those are correlations. When Ahrefs ran a controlled test on 1,885 pages in May 2026, adding JSON-LD produced no measurable citation lift in ChatGPT or AI Mode.
The honest conclusion sits between the two studies: schema disambiguates rather than persuades. It tells a machine exactly which organization you are, what a product costs, and which question a paragraph answers. When an engine quotes you, structured data raises the odds it quotes you correctly, with the right name, the right price and the right claim. That accuracy insurance costs an hour of work, so ship it, and expect precision rather than a visibility jump.
How to read your results
The report lists each JSON-LD block with its declared type and the key properties inside it. Multiple blocks are normal. A well-marked page usually carries Organization or WebSite markup sitewide plus a page-specific type such as Article, Product or FAQPage. A parse error flag means the JSON is malformed, and since engines skip broken blocks silently, a broken block delivers less than an absent one while looking finished in your source.
A page with zero blocks is flagged rather than failed. It still gets read, but the machine has to infer your entity, your authorship and your pricing from sentences. The suggestions under the results match recommended types to what the page appears to be, so a pricing page gets Product with offers and a help article gets FAQPage or Article.
What to fix first
Repair malformed JSON before anything else, because a broken block contributes nothing. Next, add Organization markup to your homepage with the exact brand name, logo and sameAs links to your official profiles, since entity confusion is the failure schema fixes best. Then work through page types: Article on posts, Product with price and availability on product pages, and FAQPage only where the visible page genuinely answers those questions.
Markup makes you quotable. It cannot tell you whether you are being quoted. Reachroller tracks whether ChatGPT names your brand on the questions your buyers actually ask, from $29 per month with a free 3-day trial, so you can see if the groundwork is paying off.
Frequently asked questions
Will adding schema get my brand cited by ChatGPT?+
Treat schema as accuracy insurance rather than a citation lever. Ahrefs tested 1,885 pages in May 2026 and found adding JSON-LD produced no measurable citation lift in ChatGPT or Google AI Mode. SE Ranking's finding that 71 percent of AI-cited pages carry schema is correlation. Ship it so machines get your facts right, and improve content to earn the citations.
Which schema types matter most for AI visibility?+
Organization comes first, because it pins down who you are, your official name, logo and profiles, which is the entity data engines lean on when describing brands. After that, match the page: Article for editorial content, Product with offers for anything sold, FAQPage where real questions get answered on the page. Exotic types rarely earn their maintenance cost.
Does this tool check microdata and RDFa too?+
It reads JSON-LD only. That is the format Google recommends and by far the most common in the wild, so for most sites the JSON-LD view is the complete picture. If your markup lives in microdata attributes, the tool will report no blocks found even though some structured data exists, and migrating it to JSON-LD is usually worth doing anyway.
My page has valid schema and AI still never mentions us. Why?+
Schema is one layer of a taller stack. Engines must first be able to fetch your pages, then find content that answers the exact question asked, then prefer your answer over competing sources. Check crawler access next, then compare your page against whatever the engine currently cites for your target question and close the gap in substance.
